Permits for collecting money for charity

Wasn't sure where exactly to post this but anyways, myself and some friends are doing a charity cycle in a few weeks for crumlin children's hospital. We were thinking of going round a few pubs with buckets to see if we could get a few bob when a lot of people will be out doing the 12 pubs. We've been a bit unorganised and would just like to know if doing this would need a Garda permit or would permission from pub owners be sufficient? Also, I read that you need to give about 2 weeks notice when applying for a permit... Are there any loop holes or ways of getting round this as we're desperate to raise a bit of money before Christmas while people are still feeling the festive cheer!

You need to get a permit from a local Garda Station. Crumlin might already have permits available. So maybe ask them first?

Yeah I think I'll try contacting them about it. Cheers
