    Nice looking aircraft :)
TOKYO -- The Mitsubishi Regional Jet, Japan's first domestically built passenger jet, is expected to make its maiden flight in late May, just ahead of an international air show in June.

The plane's developer, Mitsubishi Aircraft, apparently has notified major suppliers, such as engine manufacturers, of the schedule. May 29 is now seen as the most likely date. The company had planned to fly the MRJ during the October-December period of 2013, but later postponed it to April-June 2015.

The company seeks to perform a successful maiden flight before the International Paris Air Show in mid-June, a timeline it sees as important to win more orders.

I can't imagine them being competitive with that kind of a price tag... why pay 47 mil for a "cat in the bag" when you can get a CRJ or Embraer 170 series for 10 mil less

With regard to slang names for aircraft I have heard the following usually from UK spotters.
Love to know who comes up the names and how they stick
    Embraer 170 is a Womble
    MD-11 - Scud
    737 - Pig
    757 - Stick
    Citation 750 - Slicer

A full list available here http://www.b737.org.uk/aircraftnicknames.htm

    .....

I can remember the TransAer A300 (or was it a A310?)
The crews referred to it as "The Scud" as while they knew where it was supposed to go it had a habit of ending up somewhere else......
Didn't have a great rep for reliability....

You know what, I just can't be arsed to look it up, all you had to do was give an answer, but that was beyond you. This is supposed to be a discussion thread on aviation, looks like your not capable of it.

"You couldn't be arsed" is the problem here. If you don't see that then I won't waste anymore time with you.

He's just trolling or being lazy.
I'm all for sharing information and answering questions, look at my post history in A&A for proof.

And with that I'm out of this thread.

Jeremy Clarkson once described it as "a plane made in a jungle clearing, by a man who went to work on a donkey".

    Knickers are getting twisted here.

In fact I used yahoo to search "wiki jungle jet" after the I read the term here.....I got this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_Jungle
Jet Jungle, the 1960's cartoon superhero!

I used Google.ie just now with "jungle jet" and the 1st answer was this:
    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Jungle+Jet

However Jet Jungle was the 4th answer using google!

So what makes this stand out over a jungle jet? Bar the nose they look equal.

And urban dictionary just ruins everything. they got jungle jet right but jumbo jet is miles off course.

In trying to abate the discussion you've now opened the Google vs Yahoo debate....

I'm definitely bowing out now, once those technology guys hear about this they'll be all over the thread :-)
