The left headlight is gone on my car. It's a Phillips d3s. I know they are an awful price at a main dealers but would anyone know a motor factors where I would get them around limerick or Kerry? Am I as well off to go on e bay?

You can buy them online from powerbulbs.com they are €107.62 for the cheapest Philips model, they also have a 20% off if you use the code HAPPYXMAS so about €86. I would make sure you get a brand name not some rubbish.

They change colour over time and they might look different. If that bothers you buy two and keep the old one as a spare.

You probably already know but when your fitting them don't make any contact with the glass on them on your hands or you will damage them.

Don't go as often as a halogen though and are fat superior imo.

Same bulb in my A5 failed a few years back. 243 plus vat dealer quoted.
Went on Ebay and got philips identical replacement to the factory bulb for about 60 euro at the time.
You can get much cheaper ones too but they might not be so great.
Fitting is simple if its same as A5, whole headlight just pulls out after removing 3 screws. Fit bulb on the bench then as opposed to messing in confined space under the bonnet.
Mine actually had exploded and there were alot of bits of glass to get out of the headlamp. That was the hardest bit of the job.

You can get them online much cheaper if you're prepared to fit them yourself. It's pretty straight forward.

Beware of the cheap Chinese crap as they are poorly manufactured and wont give out the same light and won't last.

About €53 through parcel motel. You definitely won't do any better locally. Micksgarage have them for €145, the best a motor factors will do is match that

To be fair, it could well be the original bulb in an '08, they last that long!

You are 100% better off buying 2 and using the remaining working one as a spare, the light output will be noticeable different between the two headlights other wise i.e when the fire up the new one will stay a lovely shade of white and the old one will start of white and just dim to yellow after a few seconds/minutes.

I also echo what's said above about getting them online, i got 2 for just over 100 euro shipped from the UK, i wouldn't rule out Osram bulbs also, every bit as good as philips.

I replaced one. The car was maybe 3 years old.
I did every check I could do at the time to see if there was a noticeable difference as I wouldn't live with that and after checking from all angles including viewing my car as my brother drove it into view, I really couldn't see any difference.
Must do that exercise again now as one bulb is over 6 years old now.

Dougie I logged on to the link you gave me. At the bottom of the page it shows more bulbs and there is one there for £23. Would this be a knock off? It says it's a Phillips d3s

Much better option to buy two bulbs, keep the old as a spare,
