Well my wife's laptop went into repair for the 5th time and they decided to finally refund us (yay!) so it's time to buy that new laptop this weekend. I'm preliminary down to two models of the Acer Aspire E15 with Win 8.1; the price difference is 100 EUR in favor of the AMD model. My main concern of course being AMD and their history of problems with graphic cards (I've not had any issues with their processors but I believe the current intel generation is better due to the automatic OCing etc.) both hardware and software.

The laptop is going to have 1234980712413854 tabs open while playing a movie in VLC and playing basic games such as Bejewled (sp) as the most strenuous exercise and it will be plugged in for power 99% of the time.

    Model 1
    Intel Core i5 4210 Haswell, 15.6 "LED 1920x1080 ComfyView, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 840mm 2GB, 4700mAh battery

    Model 2
    AMD Quad Core A8-7100, 15.6" LED 1920x1080 anti reflex, RAM 8GB, AMD Radeon R5 + AMD Radeon R7 M265 2GB, 2500 mAh battery

Everything else is the same in terms of spec.
