What's the base price for bull beef? I got a Lm bull 22mths R=1+, killed out at 313kgs and got 2.50/kg for him.
The base price in general is around 3.90/kg is it not. But what's to stop the factories just saying tomorrow "we'll only have a base of 3/kg "? Like what's to stop them? Where are we gona sell our cattle??

He was too lean, that's why the price was so low. I killed a few reactors, bulls similar age to yours, but one with 2= for fat cover was 3.60 a kg, 2+ would probably be 10cent more.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

he was a bit lean alright. But read the 2nd paragraph as seperate.- What's to stop factories giving 3euro/kg base price? Where else are we gona get rid of our cattle?

They'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they tried to put their suppliers out of business, They make a lot of money out of beef, they're not going to throw that away, it's in their own interest to keep farmers in business

I mainly kill bulls and the one warning im on is if I present any fat score less than 2= their is no floor on price as the meat turns black when it cools
Bulls never go on base price over 16 months
Whats to stop factories setting base price at whatever they want is competition according to competition authority
After saying that I would have expected to get 2.9/3 for an r1 this week

Is it difficult to judge the fatness of cattle before you kill them?
In the old days when we fattened cattle, you'd get the ball of fat around the tail and in under the hind legs. I'd hate to be trying to get a ball of fat on some of the Limousin bulls I've seen. Saw a 6 year old pedigree bull selling recently and you could see the muscle lines all over him. Not a pick of fat.

Lala, something looks a bit odd, did you kill last week? your bull graded r=1+ and when you go into the price app (link below), into that factory and double click the price, it brings up all the grades and average prices paid, and I see av price listed for that bull with that grade week ending dec 7th was 3 euro, which means if you got paid 250, some others musta got more than 3 euro to bring the average up. you should check this out (ring department), and let us know how you go???:confused:
