Mould In Wardrobe

I have fitted wardrobes in my bedroom. One section of the wardrobes is against an outside wall and I am experiencing a mould problem on my clothes.

I have small dehumidifier units in the wardrobe (which has 3 small and one large area) and these fill with water and need to be emptied every 8 weeks.

I noticed today that the clothes on the side that touches the external wall are slightly damp.

    I have 3 questions:-

    1) Is there any remedial action I can take?

    2) Is there a more permanent solution?

    3) Can anybody recommend a service provider (only from personal experience of a similar problem please)

It's a case of dead air probably between wall of wardrobe and exterior wall which condenses. Have you any air vents in room? Only real solution is either move wardrobe to an internal wall or insulate exterior wall, or can you get house pumped with some insulation?

    Thanks mad m

There is a vent in the room, but the wardrobe doors are always closed (therein could be a small part of the problem).

Moving is not an option as the wardrobe is fitted and runs the entire length of the bedroom.

I don't have €12k to do external insulation, so that's not an option.

There is about a 50mm gap between the edge of the wardrobe and the wall. Would it be possible to get somebody to fill that with insulating foam (and would that help)?

Only other alternative would be to dismantle that section of the wardrobe and cut it down by about 2-3cm and put in an insulating board between the wall and the side of the wardrobe (if indeed that would solve the problem).

I need a professional's help, by the look of it!

If you could dismantle the wardrobe then all you would need to do is fix insulated boards to wall then put wardrobe back tight to that, there would be no need to plaster wall as wardrobe will hide it. Couple of ways to fix boards is mushroom or batten walls then screw boards to battens.

In other words if you can't DIY it yourself get someone who can.
