Amazon basket/checkout price?

    Ok I have some items in my basket totalling 77.06 , but when I check out its 77.77, its in pound and its free delivery. Why is this? thxs

    Possibly having to pay the Irish rate of VAT which is slightly higher than the UK's?

    Yes VAT, high cost items can end up cheaper if you use parcel motel, i.e. if the vat differnce is higher than the PM charge.

    Also some items (e.g. cycling helmets) are zero vat in the UK, but 23% here.

    If using PM the uk vat is going to the UK governement though, we do get VAT from EU companies who charge our vat.

    If a company does over €35,000 worth of business per year with Ireland they are obliged to pay vat, but I suspect many still do not.

    There is a chrome extension or at least a firefox one that displays the price with irish VAT.
