Hi there, I have a built in Creda Gainsborough Gas Cooker, which is about 16 years old, it has worked fine up until today, the Mrs rang me about a strange noise coming from it when I got home I had a look, when you turn on the oven it comes on ok, but in the Grill the ignition spark kept sparking. So turned off the oven and the ignition spark in the grill stopped. So fired up the Grill and again the ignition kept sparking even with the grill lit. Now it seems to have settled down again, and works correctly, Anyone know is this caused by a faulty sensor or maybe a faulty PCB in the cooker?
I was looking up Creda to get an official agent to service the oven, it seems Creda are now part of Hotpoint. Not sure how much they will charge to repair this oven if needed, they seem to promise one price to repair an appliance. Anyone any experience using them or is there any recommended authorized agents in the Dublin area (I'm in Lucan)

    Thanks

Is it not a domestic appliance? A lot of threads about cookers on here.

It is a Gas appliance and you require a RGI to advise, they frequent the plumbing and heating board.

True, but gas appliances are a bit different, very restricted on what a diy'er can do to them, no one is going to give advice that could potentially if incorrectly followed turn it into a bomb.

I agree and trust me I don't plan on going near it myself, I'm just trying to work out is it cost effective to get it repaired over buying a new one and has anyone used Freda (now hotpoint) agents to repair their cooker they seem to offer a one price fix whatever parts and labor are required, sounds expensive.

Creda. It will be expensive if they turn up at your door, tell you parts are obsolete for that model and then charge you the FIXED charge.

It sounds like the spark generator but again I would advise ask further on the RGI forum.
