    Hi folks,

First off, only found this forum today and the detail of info in here is incredible!

I'm looking to replace my folks sky with a freesat + Soarview option:

simple to use and easy to keep up to date
Play media files off external HDD
No need for multi channel recording
No need for 7 day EPG
possibly stream to other tvs. (via raspberry pi maybe)

After some research I have identified these as possible candidates :
    Amiko Mini Combo Receiver
Amiko Alien 2 - Triple Tuner

I think I am right in saying the Alien is a Linux box. What can this do that the Mini cannot (outside of having 3 tuners)?

I have one. Its a fantastic receiver for the price. I got the 2 x s2 tuner version and added an old usb dtt tuner I had to turn it into a triple tuner.

You are right that the alien 2 is a linux box

The mini hd can stream but only to 1 device at a time and I think also that it kills the picture on the tv while streaming
so that means you can't watch 1 station on your android while someone else watches another station on the tv

The Amiko alien 2 can do both at same time
    Hope this helps
