Lads possible stupid question: what's the best way to use apps like TuneIn as a normal radio? Are there any Android powered internet radios?

I have my OPO in a dock next to my bedside....so would the smartest thing be to get a good bluetooth speaker?

I'm just surprised there's nothing "radio shaped" to take advantage of the many apps....I'm missing something obvious here I think!

Thanks for any help guys! :)

Maybe this is a bit of a roundabout, but tunein now has chromecast support, so you can stream if to any hdmi capable tv.

I would go for a decent bluetooth speaker. I have a Logitech one that I use exactly for this purpose and it's great.

Maybe buy a decent speaker with Aux in and get a cheapo phone to connect to it. Buy any old 4 inch yolk on ADVERTS.IE and connect to the speaker and load it up with the apps and design a nice homescreen to display on it. Dedicated Android beat box if you will.!!

Problem with the Bluetooth speaker and your main phone is that you cannot really leave it on all the time like a regular radio and if you get a phone call it's annoying or if you stray out of range then the others listening will be disappointed when it cuts out.

Oh if I connect a speaker by Aux In will the call not come through on that speaker as opposed to a BT one? Think I might try for one of those popular X-Mini yokes so.

I am sure that the call would come through connected by Aux also if you get a call on your main phone . I am suggesting that you get a cheap phone with no sim inserted and just use it to be the smart part of a homemade radio.

Would a cheap tablet not be a better option? Usually a bigger screen and better battery life than a similar priced phone.
