By settings I mean going into settings, then apps, then forcing the app to stop
It's the HTC One M8 but I figured this was a generic Android question.
I tried playing Simpsons Tapped Out and Clash of Clans. But the problem is they ran in the background and kept giving me notifications. I don't mind that except they seemed to drain power a lot. I uninstalled them and I was fine on internet browsing. Battery went down but nowhere near as much.

So other than going settings -> apps -> force stop, is there an easier way to stop apps running in the background?
Also do cached apps drain battery?

Clean master will manage thus for you.

Be careful of task manager apps, they can cost you cpu cycles (and therefore battery), not save it. They interfere with the way Android works. Android likes to cache apps, when they are cached they will not usually be using cpu cycles but there are exceptions to this that like to run in the background so it's better to just open multitasking and swipe the app away.

If an app is giving you notifications you dont want, long click the notification and untick the show notifications box.
Dunno if this helps with the battery but it's handy for some apps that you don't ever need to be notified about.
