I believe there is a new Lidl store opening in Patrick Street, Mullingar.

Does anyone know exactly where it is located? Possible post a Google map link? Thanks.

situated on the old horizon site. Often a circus held on the site.

imagine the county council refused planning. a derelict dirty site. Muppets

Would you rather the new Lidl store in the town centre, maybe next door to the Post Office:confused:

up town would make more sense.
shops at the edge of town takes shoppers out of the retail core.

my argument was it was tidying up an ugly site. Must go that way for a look soon

Does Mullingar need another Lidl? I know its the far side but its not like the existing one is insuccifient. Or will they close the other one?

No, the original store will not be closing as it has it's own passing trade aswell as everyone who lives that side of town. In fact, the new store opening has not affected their trade as yet (a little bird told me...then flew away).

There is a large proportion of people living within walking distance of the new store - but as it doesn't have a hairdressers, tea shop, chemist or post office etc., on site, people will still come into town for all their other shopping needs.

Anyone been to the new chipper behind it? Any good?

Also they have created much needed jobs for Mullingar.

    Roll on the second Aldi's....:D

Well I've visited the new Lidl every week for the past month or so.
Its very quiet compared with Aldi. Only one checkout open yesterday compared with 3 in Aldi and each of those 3 were busier than the one in Lidl. Only one person had a trolley whereas most did in Aldi.

I've definitely noticed Aldi being quieter recently.
no harm either. That place can be crazy busy
