I have my licence a number of years and I have done the driving test once before. At that time I only had practice of the instructor's car and had a lesson once a week. Most times I drove it , I always had problems with the clutch. Anyway my driving test is around again. I've cancelled it twice already so I have to do it in February. I have use of my own car this time. But with the accompanied driver rules I've only driven it 5 times in the past 3months. I do feel a lot more comfortable in this car with the clutch etc. than I did with the instructors car even with limited driving. I have been driving a tractor for the past year so I am getting some bit of practice with the clutch, road position etc. I know they're not totally the same but its better than nothing I guess. My question is if I make it a priority to drive the car on consistently from now til February could I pass? This accompanied driver stuff is seriously preventing me getting any serious practice in. I would love to pass it and I would have freedom then to drive it and improve further. I do intend to book another test asap if I fail but that really depends on how close to passing I am in the test.

Just remember that new penalty-points that have come into effect today regarding Learners.
You should get some professional lessons though, maybe ask for a lesson as a Christmas present  . You should ask the instructor for their advice & opinion on your level of driving ability and what needs improving for you to pass your upcoming-test.

They would be best to answer your question imo,

    Yes you could.

I did my 12 driving lessons a year ago but couldn't afford to insure a car myself.

I saved up money over the summer and got insured mid-September. I passed my driving test mid-November first time.

Honestly do a pre-test first and see how you get on, make sure you do all the manoeuvres too (reverse around a corner and turnabout). 85 euro for the test and you may find yourself completely out of your depth.

Also hows your mirror work? Checking blind spots etc, you may be able to drive the car but if you don't do good observations you won't be able to pass.

Well done on passing. It gives me a bit more hope too. I'd be surprised if I did pass in February though but I'll definitely try to rebook straight away because that's a mistake I made last time ( After I did lessons and failed, I left the driving alone for a while). BTW I've no intention of driving unaccompanied anyway. Never did before and definitely wouldn't now. It is awkward though so that's why Id like to pass it.
