    Allo all,

For a new pc build i have a dual channel motherboard coming my way.
I also have 2x8gb ram modules coming.

Question for you: which is better (faster) in a dual channel mobo
    2 x 8gb
    or
    4 x 4gb?

All the trawling in the world comes up with massively split opinions on this topic.

Some assumptions: Ram is 2400mhz, mobo is gigabyte z97-ud5h
I don't intend to up the memory capacity as i don't video edit.

Cheers lads, any advice you give will help me to keep with my current order or swap for something else.

    CC.

Won't make any difference at all. Go for 2x8GB for three reasons though:

    1) Less channels populated is easier on the memory controller, which can (in rare cases) affect high overclocks to your processor.
    2) Leaves you room to expend to 32GB if you ever feel the need in the future.
    3) Cheaper.
