Odd size soil drain pipe

Currently replacing the downstairs toilet in a 1950's house.
I bought a soil pipe to fit on the back of the toilet with a 2 inch inlet that will also take a drain from a sink.
The new soil pipe from the toilet has a barb seal, but ithe seal is slightly too small for the waste soil drain pipe in the ground.
The local plumbing shop tell me the new soil pipe i bought is a standard size.
    Has anyone come accross this?
PS I am not a plumber

A picture would help but I'd say your trying to join into cast iron waste or clay waste

I have seen something similar before and what you may need to get is a rubber socket with a jubilee clip each side to tighten.

I will try get a pic later.
    to explain a bit better:

    pan outlet is horizontal.

closet drain pipe in ground i.e. vertical and is a 4 inch pipe

Pan is connected with a 90 deg connector, with a 2 inch inlet on top of the connector to facilitate a basin/sink waste pipe.

The pipe part of the connector that goes into the closet drain is approx 3" with a barb seal - but the barbed seal is not a tight fit in the 4" closet drain pipe. seems more suitable for a 3 1/2 pipe?

I want to use the connector, becasue it has the 2 inch basin waste connection - but I dont know how to get a proper seal in the 4 inch closet drain pipe.

Thanks in advance, any help really appreciated.

Sounds like your fitting it into the collar of the soil pipe, if so you will require a small piece of soil pipe in the collar before fitting the multiwik connector

Or you could get a straight pan connector extension piece, push it down a few inches into the soil pipe and trim to the correct length and put your 90' connection into this.
