Hi. So I have decided I want to be a paramedic. Heres a quick background on me. I am currently 21yo and in final year of my nursing degree. During my placement as a student nurse I worked for 3 weeks in a+e and have also done a couple of shifts there while being an agency healthcare assistant. To cut a long story short I loved every minute of emergency medicine but especially resus and the ofter more traumatic incident. I decided about a year ago that I wanted to be a paramedic and now that I'm nearing the end of college I'm starting to look at my options for next year and was wondering if some one could give me a bit of help.
At the moment my plan is to join an agency as a nurse and do that for a while to get a bit of money. I'm going to try get my d1 licence too, already have a car licence. If a hse recruitment comes up I will appky, I known the degree program will be starting soon but to be honest I'd rather not do another 4 year degree.
I was looking at maybe trying to get into an apprentice paramedic program in England. I'm very easy on where I will do it. Dont mind travelling to australia, canada, america etc. As long as the program is like 2years or so max and will be recognised in ireland when I come home.
All advice and experience would be greatly appreciate. Also I know this topic has been covered plenty of time but just wanted a more recent answer and maybe some to shed soke light on paramedic training while having a healthcare degree already.
