Amiko HD Receiver interference issue

    Hi

I recently bought an Amiko Micro HD Satellite Receiver for use with my parents TV in the kitchen. The receiver itself is working fine, but we seem to be having a problem where the receiver is interfering with the Saorview signal coming from our outside ariel. Other tv's in the house don't have any problem with their saorview signal.

If the receiver is near the tv, the saorview picture seems to break up or even go completely and we get a "no signal found" message. Moving the receiver away or switching it off at the mains completely, fixes the problem straight away.

I've been in touch with the suppliers but probably won't hear back from them until Monday now at the least, but just wondering if I've just got a faulty receiver or could there be anything else causing the problem? I've already tried a different power supply in case there was something odd going on there, but to no avail.

We used to have an old Sky box hooked up without any issues for years. Got the Amiko as the tv is now fixed to the wall and needed something smaller.

Don't really know if this interference is typical or not, & if it might just be a case of trying to keep it out of the Saorview tuner, rather than a replacement receiver offering an improvement.

The Saorview aerial cable could be a possible weak point for interference ingress, if it has poor screening. Is it a pre-made flylead from a wall point?

Thanks for the reply. Yep, pre made cable. The original one we had looks to have been dodgy anyway so replaced it yesterday with similar problems, although seems to be ok at the moment. Very odd.

were you using micro or wireless phones thinking it could be picking that up?i tried a powered aerial on saorview combo and it was a bad signal spot.

Wallplates can be another point of interference pickup, some are poorly designed or may have been wired in a way that leaves a lot of the coaxial inner conductor unscreened.

Also, HDMI leads have been known to radiate interference that can affect UHF TV. If you're using a HDMI cable, try to keep it separated from the aerial lead.
