Dublin Bus infoline no longer effectve

I have had occasion to ring the Dublin Bus Infoline (8734222) now and again, usually to find out what happened to a no-show bus.

Up to recently, the Infoline always gave me an answer, either immediately or after checking with the relevant garage.

However, last week I was let down quite badly. A late-evening 145 bus had failed to arrive at D'Olier st on Saturday 29th November, and the delay, in cold weather, caused significant distress to a female friend who needed to get home to Bray.

I rang the inofline 3 times, on consecutive days this past week. The first 2 times the person at the end of the line promised me the garage would ring me back (that is already a chenge from before - they previously never left this to the garage). The garage never rang.

On Friday I said this again, to a lady called Marie, who promised to call me back herself. She did not do so.

I am afraid that this infoline (which already works for too few hours) is being run down. I very much hope I am mistaken.

If true, not good enough. If there was going to be a reduced service, why were passengers not notified of this?

off course its true. most passengers would be too drunk on a saturday to notice

Well we noticed and we are going to get to the bottom of it.

In any case, does anyone else think the infoline has become less good?

Didn't even know they had such a thing TBH... when I used to get buses I just rang the depot directly if there was any problem

significant distress? for a delayed bus?

significant distress? for a delayed bus?

Maybe they were relying on the bus to bring them somewhere important?

Do you know the person's circumstances?

    It's not Xmas,
    thats from 24Dec to 6Jan

    November is not christmas.

Dublin bus get vast amounts of tax money to run their services, yet still refuse to run busses on xmas day. There is no excuse to not have all their services running on 29 November, let alone mislead the op that their services were running as normal, when they weren't.

DB had a service on the 25th in years past.
    It was empty.

loads of people visit relatives on xmas day.
I'm always surprised how much traffic there is on the m50 as I drive it every xmas.

Many of those drivers would be glad of the overtime even if they only did half a shift in the morning or afternoon.
