First world problems

    Hi guys,

As the title suggests this might at first glance look like a first world problem . I have a decent paying job (€500 to €600 for a 40 hr week). The work in general is ok and I like to think I've gotten good at my job. I'm not one of these guys that loves his work, I get the job done. I know there are people on here screaming you have a job, be grateful. Having a job and allowing your mental health to suffer is no life for anyone. If you have been in my situation you will instantly understand how I feel. You do everything that is asked of you, you go above and beyond on a daily basis but somehow you are made to feel like you arnt doing enough, that your overpaid and under work. The company has had a lot of staff turnover over the past 5 years which testifies to the bad management .

So basically I need to move on, badly. I considered IT as I have some experience but I haven't done anything for years and computers arnt really my thing. I'd like to get into a maintenance position in a factory or similar . I'd prefer not to reveal too much about my qualifications etc as I'd be screwed if my employer knew I was looking for a new job. If anyone has any advice or tips on training or available positions plz reply or pm me , thanks

Get your CV out onto websites and the likes of LinkedIn.
I know where your coming from, my company specialises in negative reinforcement as a management tool.

Thanks DoomZ, I've polished off the old CV, 10 years at the one company, shows loyalty I guess, a little slow to realise the situation I was in. Swings and roundabouts. Things would be ok for a while and then 1 conversation or incident and that's it.

It's the infamous straw that broke the camel's back... I do hope you find something better soon, you can't put a price tag on peace of mind. :)

Verbal abuse is a new one and could definitely be considered the proverbial straw, and all I did was push back a little. People treat you the way you let them treat you. Unfortunately an employer has a lot of control over your life and mental state

Hey, couldn't help but notice your name…perhaps I'm assuming a lot (as in your location) but there is a company just outside Enniscorthy who make medical devices (I won't name them). They've been looking for maintenance people for a while now. :)
