    Hi all,

Will a car pass a NCT with a faulty wing mirror housing, the mirror itself is fine just the cover has a large crack in it and is held in place with some tape.

    Thanks,

    JD

not sure but have you rang them or looked at the website?

if they can't tell you, you can always do the retest within four weeks of test for about 28 quid ;-)

As far as I know the reasons for fail will be if the mirror casing is loose and likely to fall off or if there's sharp edges which could pose a threat to pedestrians, if it's heavily taped up and secure it should be fine.

Tape it well so that there are no sharp edges.

Even if they fail you on that (unlikely if taped well) the retest is visual, so no booking, no fee.

Can you repair it with a small patch of Fibreglass and some resin?
Sand it back and then spray it black.
