Remember, a finger with a glove on is hard to distinguish from a cock with a condom on. So I'm told.

As someone who suffers from a bowel condition, let me tell you that having people shove things up there (hands, scopes) is always embarrassing, awkward and painful!

Hands? You'd want to be as wide as O'Connell Street to fit that.
It's usually the index finger and doesn't hurt at all. More uncomfortable than painful.

Not as embarrassing and awkward as prostate cancer I imagine.

It hurts if your bowel is ulcerated. But yes, I imagine normally it's not painful.

The initial prostate check is done by blood test these days. They only carry out the physical examination if your bloods come back with an abnormal result.

Hand?????? - how big is your arse!!

Yes they're embarrassing, but prostate cancer isn't exactly a bundle of laughs - so it's worth sucking up - the embarrassment, not the hand obviously!

Internals are not something either men or women are comfortable with.

But they are something really necessary for our health and well being.

For medical staff it is absolutely nothing.

As my obs consultant told me to once in a maternity hospital, leave your shyness at the door when you come in. I remember having conversations with staff while my legs were a mile apart in stirrups or on nurses shoulders, my private bits and bobs were on show for the world while doctors poked inside. But the end result was so worth it a little baby.

The end result of any internal is worth it.

Not so bad. At least you don't have to repeat it!

    Prostate exam is nothing.

Try the umbrella up the japseye for std screening.

Not an AH style answer, so apologies in advance.
The prostate exam is simple and not at all painful or uncomfortable. Any man over 50 should get this done at least every 2 years. It takes only seconds and is very simple and easy.

Have a few drinks beforehand and enjoy it.

Im too young for prostate problems but I suffer with my bowels a bit. A DRE takes 10 seconds max.
The worst part is lying on the table exposed waiting for the finger to go in and it does feel weird but it really is over within a few seconds.
Also remember your Doctor will have done this countless times before.

I remember reading the abstract of a study that showed doctor's with longer fingers were more likely to find problems.

So, I guess you actually want the doc with the biggest hands.

My doctor is a good-looking woman. She is not going to stick her fingers up my ass.
