Negative Physiological Reactions to Vape

Have you identified a particular liquid/ mix.that causes a negative physiological reaction in you?

Woke up this morning and my lower inner lip was raw, swollen and frazzled. Gutted as had been vaping away at Shire Malt last night which I was enjoying.

Could be its high VG content (70%) but have had high VGs before and not reacted like this. Then again, could be a combo of high VG and lack of water taken as wad boozing too (dehydrating)!

Trying a new liquid as part of a consumer panel last night and my ( not my actual throat but the sides of my neck around my throat ) were sore , drank loads last night and was fine when I woke up this morning so I'm thinking it might have been the liquid as opposed to the start of a cold .

Consumer Panel? What? Interest - peaked.

dehydration is the most noticeable for me

I had a reaction to some juice once - loads of mouth ulcers. It wasn't just me either, my friend was on the same juice and reported the same. Maybe it was down to dehydration... dunno, but not pleasant and I was also worried that if was doing this to my mouth, what was it doing to my lungs.

Emerald Vaping wanted people to rate liquids for them so sent coded bottles to some Irish Vaping subscribers on FB including other shop's juices to review and give feedback on.
The deadline for application has long passed.

If there are any liquids left after my appraisals (lah-dee-dah!) I'll send them onto you, but you'll have no way of knowing what a liquid is if you fall in love with it.

    Also - piqued, not peaked.

I never had any issues as I use different flavours on every vape, there was a video from Pegasus Culinary Vapes about this https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwJIB4JL9RVYZjf1qtoHmsQ

During this last week, I've been waking up in the morning with a really bad taste in my mouth and that "furry teeth" sensation - almost akin to what it used to be like when I smoked. Have to frantically brush my teeth on waking! I've been vaping e liquids since March and before that was on e cigarettes for several months - never had this before. I change flavours regularly during the day (also brands) and am on 12mg strength. Anyone else having this problem? Just me?!

I remember having that issue too, mine was from burned rubber on an evod head.

Can you tell me what setup you use at the minute?

    Also general tips:

Always keep water close, vaping will dry your mouth
Wash your hands after filling your tank, if the nicotine level in your liquid is strong or your skin sensitive you may notice a small rash and/or in worse cases some dizziness.

If you get a sore from dehydration, give it a few days with less vaping and use mouthwash often then drink loads of water, that should get you back on track.

The clearomisers are called CE5 and I get replacement atomisers/wicks for them. The batteries are Cirro brand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 233 ✭✭Boogietime

The ce5 seem to have the same bottom rubber as the eVod, I wouldn't advise using the same atomizer head - if you have changed it already and it's the same issue, the battery might be at fault, pushing too much voltage and causing the coil heads to light up and subsequently burn the rubber grommet. Otherwise, the coil you have on the faulty head is causing a short and lights up the coil heads.

I had to visit the dentist to get the teeth cleaned, I would highly suggest an RBA and a mod, like kayfun+vamo v5 (I currently have that and I'm very happy with it, but there are hundreds of possible combinations and mods/RBAs out there).

Thanks. I have no idea what you just said though LOL.
The same atomizer head as what? What's an RBA and what's a mod?! I am but a simple vaper...not learnt the terminology!
I have more than one battery/clearomiser/atomiser on the go at any one time, with different flavours in.

I just came over here to see if there was a "negative reactions" thread and saw this.
Have been vaping for a while now and I'm pg intolerant but had found a few juices that were fine. Began to dabble with other low-ish pg juices there a while ago and came a cropper. Very very ill so returned to the old reliables. But I'm now finding that even with juices that I had no issue with before, since the bad run(pardon the pun) I am having a somewhat dodgy time vaping now. Sick stomach, light headed and *ahem* extra bathroom visits.
I'm not over vaping, tbh I'm vaping very little due to the adverse reaction.
    Why could this be?

Give a more thorough breakdown as to what your at Smidge...

    1. What e-liqid: what brand, what nicotine level, what pg/vg level?

    2. What device combination are you using?

    3. How long have you been vaping? How often do you vape?

    Etc.

sick stomach and light headed nearly sounds like it is nicotine itself you have started to have a bad reaction to, probably a good idea to speak to your gp

Yeah this is how I feel if I 'overdose' on nic.
    What level are you vaping?
I had to cut most liquids down to 6mg from 12, and 18 will make me feel instantly light headed and nauseous! I vaped a 12 in my dripper the other day and nearly threw up, same juice in a tank was fine.

I put 24mg juice into the Atlantis by mistake & my head was all over the place for 20mins,what a buzz,I can't empty the juice yet as I extended the juice capacity when filling,to save wasting juice,I am rocking it at 40w & tooting it for 1sec & it is vaping good & still plenty of clouds,I will need to buy some 6mg for this tank.

I have more than one battery/clearomiser/atomiser on the go at any one time, with different flavours in.

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you.

So inside your ce5 clearomizer you have these small heads which are composed of:

    1. wick material, to take in juice from the tank
    2. wire coil, wrapped around the wick to burn the juice. The coil is expected to light up in order to function properly.
    3. coil legs - elongation from the coil with two sides: one positive and one negative connection. They're protected from touching (and shorting) by a rubber grommet. They mustn't light up like the coil does as their function is to pass current, not to burn liquid. If the coil has a short or if the battery is pushing too much power, the coil legs will light up though, causing the rubber that divides them to burn as well.

On your next question, I like to divide ecigarettes into three major categories:

    1. Cig-a-likes, the tiny ones you buy from Spar and that don't have great performance/taste but they will work... up to some point. Small, look like a cigarette and not built for performance.

    2. Clearomizer/atomizers with regular sized batteries, such as the one you have. In here you have a much varied range and you can choose what atomizer to have, whether it's a clear tank (clearomizer), whether you want the coil to be at the top of the atomizer (warmer vapour, a bit more flavour but can have wicking problems) or at the bottom of the atomizer (cooler vapour, easier to change, less wicking problems causing dry vapes).
Also you can have different battery types ranging in size, colour, type (what they're made of, generally good to go for Li-Po types, you can find more information on the aul' google).

    3. Mods - similar to the previous category as you purchase the top and the battery mod separately - mix and match to your liking. They are larger in size and will offer more customization room. You can modify the voltage, wattage, coil resistance (by making your own coils, which is actually quite easy), etc.

The top (or RBA as in rebuildable atomizer) I heard the most about is the Kayfun. The most common battery mod I have seen is the Vamo, I personally have 3 of those, with the fourth on the way.

Now, after this tl;dr - here's my tip: if you're not in it for mods yet, try a smaller li-po battery like the Spinner II with a nice atomizer like the Kanger Aero mini. I'm out of that shopping market for a while, so peope may have better recommendations for you.

I got a liquid (brand: DEA) in "smoke different" on Capel street and two days later, I got a cold sore in my lip and a ton of mouth ulcers.
second time now I've gotten a reaction to a liquid.

I think I'll stick to vaping dog from now on. its been the only one that seems to agree with me!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 714 ✭✭✭PlainP

I find if it has a high nicotine it can sometimes be a little harsh on the chest ie.tightness or wheezing.

I also get mouth ulcers. Don't really be paying attention to which liquid I put in when these occur as I have heaps of different kinds of bottles.

I think I'll pay a bit more attention the next time they crop up and just avoid that certain liquid.

I am thinking about packing it in also as I will nearly be 2 years vaping this summer.

Time does fly when you're having fun!

Not with any particular liquid, but if some of it spills from the top my lips go numb. Also hiccups. If I have hiccups for whatever reason, then every single time I try vape I will hiccup again without fail. Goes on for hours!
