Having watched him against Geraghty he's in with a shot. In fact that fight was probably perfect preparation for prizefighter, a short duration fight, with a high quality opponent, highly charged atmosphere and both men really going for it.

Carroll kept his head in that fight, where as Geragthy lost his (and then used it to hit Jono !), so I think he'll cope well with the occasion and do well if he tries to fight in a similar manner.
Foster Jnr is a tough first round opponent, but he is 34 now and certainly not the fighter of old, nor is he a big Lightweight, so I think Jono is in with a chance here, but it'll be a tough fight for both men imo.

The problem the winner of that fight has is they've got Gary Buckland in the semi-final. Buckland is the favourite for the tournament, and while starting to fade himself is still a decent fighter. He also has an easy first round opponent in Floyd Moore, so will be fresh for the semi. In a three round fight, who knows but all things considered you'd have to favour Buckland against Foster jnr/Carroll.

Now the other side of the draw is pretty weak, and I suppose Cassius O'Connor has to be favoured to come through it. Regardless of which fighter comes through Carroll's side of the draw you'd have to favour them over this side.
So overall I think Carroll is in with a bit of a shout, and has a better chance than the 14/1 odds have him, but you still have to fancy Buckland in this, he's a former prizefighter winner himself and stopped both Gary Sykes and Derry Matthews on route to winning that one, so he has both the experience and quality to get the job done.

Would love to see Carroll win it though and hope he gets the victory over Foster jnr at the very least. Big chance to progress his career here so all the best to him.

He did an easy number on Foster but up against a tough but in the Semi Final with Gary Buckland.

Deserved the win and made plenty of Irish punters a few quid.

Great result for Carroll. Lovely mover and boxer. Great timing, and a good engine. Takes a good shot too. I think he just nicked the last rd vs. Buckland

I don't know his record but he mentioned in an interview that he has 2 Irish underage titles, was part of the underage High Performance set up, and boxed at the EU's (again underage), losing out to an eventual Silver medalist at the 2012 Olympics, which would seemingly be Freddie Evans, considering the only other Silver medalist from the EU at the games were JJN, Clemente Russo (Heavyweight), and Roberto Camarelle (Super-Heavyweight).
