Switching to Macbook - program issues

I'm switching to the MBP from windows at christmas.

My main concern is migrating my Lightroom catalogues which have all my edits and smart collections etc.

Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer over the Lightroom data to the Mac so that I can just plug in my external drive (already formatted to work on the mac) and have things exactly as they were on the windows machine?

    Yep, it will work.

You can just load the catalogue in to Lightroom on your mac. However, drive designations will have changed, but you can simply let Lightroom know where the files are and it will be fine.

Open Lightroom, open the catalogue, and in Library mode, where you have the "drive" lists on the left, you will have to right click on the missing folder, and click the find folder option. Then you point to where the files exist on your mac and everything will work just as before.

Any questions, just send me a PM.

Thanks very much for this info Paul. I'll do this at christmas when I've the mac and get back to you if I run into any difficulties.

    Appreciate the info.
