ISM Adamo Prologue alternatives

    Folks,

I've an ISM Adamo Prologue and have been using it long enough to know it's not for me. It's just too uncomfortable for longer rides which is disappointing as it does the job I got it for. Can anyone please suggest some alternatives? Specialized seem to have an array of options but I'm interested to know what folks who may have had a Prologue went for and found better and what people find good in general.

    Thanks,

    Gav.

Are you specifically looking for a noseless saddle or just any alternative? I'm the hunt for a new one and also didn't like the adamo. I found it great for relieving pressure but just found it too wide.

I recently tried the fizik aliante but didn't like the excessive wave and found I was sitting on my perineum. So now I'm testing the arione which is at the other end of the spectrum. First ride tomorrow but setting it up tonight I found it very comfortable.

I was tempted to test another ISM saddle maybe the attack or the podium but my lbs doesn't have them at the moment.

I use a Selle SMP TRK for my training bike and it is the most comfortable saddle ever, I went with it because Mark Beaumont used a Selle SMP saddle for setting the round the world record, so if a guy does 100 miles a day for around 190 days it must comfortable and it is. They have loads of different models but there all the same general design.

Thought I read a review somewhere that said the adamo TT was actually more comfortable than the prologue as it's narrower. I'm on look out myself , fixik alicante on my latest bike but don't like it.

I use the adamo attack on my bike. Felt like sitting on a razor blade the first few rides. Narrower, shorter, and longer groove than the prologue. If you can get your hands on one to test go for it (or like me buy first)

Update: I found the arione lovely and flat but a little too narrow so swapped for the mid range antares, first ride tomorrow.

I've booked myself in for a bike fit with Aidan Hammond so i'll try a few options there. I don't think that moving to another Adamo saddle is going to help to be honest. I'll update this thread after I've tried a few alternatives. Thanks for the feedback.

Just to be clear the Prologue is designed for timed events in the Aero position, and certainly not as a general saddle (particularly for longer rides). I use my Adamo for TTs and the pursuit for example but would never dream of putting it on the road bike as it does not feel (to me) anything like as stable as a "traditional" shaped saddle. They do, for example, the Century or Touring which are designed for longer rides (not that I have ever tried either)

Is there anywhere that has them in stock? Im thinking of one for my tt bike but would like a closer look at one first.

For those who find the saddle/nose too wide - If you zip tie the front rails you can make it narrower and then over time widen it out until you get used to it.

Ive the TT on my TT bike and the race on my race bike and I find them really good. Still not fantastic but less numbness for sure.

    Folks,

I had the bike fit done and it was pretty interesting to see some of the results I was getting and why. Regarding the saddle, I was able to swap the Prologue for a Selle Italia Flite Flow (I can't post a link it seems ...). I was a little skeptical to be honest but things could't get much worse I thought. I went out for 40k spin which should have been long enough for any problems to manifest and while it's not perfect (but pretty damn close), it's a much better saddle overall for me. I'd put this mainly down to the bike fit though and not the saddle making things better I'd say. I've still a bit to drop the seat post gradually over the next few trips out but I'm presuming that this will make things better if nothing else.

Overall it's far, far more the bike fit than the saddle which is the answer for me. Still any other advice re saddles is much appreciated.

    Gav.
