I was so impatient when I was in my teens but over the last 5 years or so (I'm 23) my personality changed and I'm like a zen master now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,128 ✭✭✭✭aaronjumper

Depends on my mood. The better my mood, the more patience I have.
Nobody has more patience than a doctor though. Badum-tsch!

All good things come to those who wait:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,147 ✭✭✭PizzamanIRL

It depends on the situation. If I'm waiting for something/someone that I know should only take 2 minutes but I'm waiting 5 minutes, I can feel my heart rate rising and my patience disappearing.

Patience is not a virtue of mine. I'd say 2. Pretty good at faking it though. I teach the same grammar points repeatedly to the same students on a weekly basis who act surprised every time. I swear they do it to test me. An average interaction would go something like this....

Spanish student: And at the end, I went home...

    Me: IN the end....

Student (looking like he'd never heard this expression before in his entire life even though I'd told him last week...and the week before etc.) What?

Me: It's not AT the end, it's IN the end in this context.

Spanish student: I never heard that before.

Me: I told you last week, Juan! :)

    Spanish student: Oh!

*Makes same mistake 10 minutes later*

Last year in this game. I can no longer grin and bear it and the mask slips the odd time and have to laugh nervously to pretend it was a joke.

My patience is inversely proportional to how drunk I am.

I have little or no patience but have a great ability to bottle it up when dealing with IT support calls......I'm pretty much in the wrong job

You do TEFL? May I ask how you like it?

You're asking the wrong person. Giving it up in 7 months and I can't wait (see story above and multiply that by 5 years, 27 hours a week). Grand for a few years though! Some people love it and do it for years though.

I'm only impatient when I'm awake.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,339 ✭✭✭The One Doctor

I've gone from virtually no patience to having about 8 out of 10 patience units.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 778 ✭✭✭Don Kedick

Teaching can be soul destroying yet it can be very rewarding. It just depends on how much of your soul is being destroyed or how rewarding it is for you. This is the case for teachers with 5 year old madheads, 15 year old nutcases, or 25 year old dorks. Patience is the number one thing you need with any form of teaching. Well apart from medication, medication is number one and then patience, sometimes the meds help with the patience part.

I'd said that most people who have little to no patience, were born early. Bruce Lee-ing their way out the womb.

    A ten.

About 8. I'm far more patient than most but notice I'm getting more impatient and bitter about people wasting my time as the years go by.
