Amazon 'This item is a gift' option?

Just wondering what this entails. I know you can choose to then have the items wrapped (at £3 a pop!), but if you don't choose this are the items still inconspicuous? Basically I want to get stuff posted home to family but obviously want to keep the contents a surprise. Will they all ship in a standard generic Amazon box with no list of items?

Basically means that the person who receives a package has no information about the cost of the item (in terms of the invoice). The gift option also means you can put a personal message on the docket that comes with the package. It's packed in the standard Amazon packing.

Best ship it to a different family member if you want to keep it a surprise.

Basically they'll ship in a normal Amazon box, with a packing slip, but without any prices on the packing slip. The packing slip will include details of who the items are from and who they're for.

If you choose gift wrapping, from what I can tell they will still ship in an Amazon box, but the individual items will be wrapped. So the recipient can open the box without knowing exactly what's been sent. The packing slip will be included in a sealed envelope, and if you're sending multiple items to different people, each item will have a note on it saying who it's for and who it's from.

I'm not paying £3 extra on each item as it's quite a few. All I want to know is whether the person who receives the delivery will know the contents - because it's various stuff for everyone in the family. Will it be a case of choosing one person to have their surprise ruined :D
