Hi could anyone let me no why my burner runs constant . I.ve only noticed it the last few days. I.ve only had oil heating a few months .

It could be lots of reasons, bad leak, undersized, faulty stats, it needs to be seen really. I am assuming that you mean that it's heating, but never cuts out and back in even after being on for a few hours?
When was it serviced?

There are a number of reasons but basically its not reaching the boiler thermostats setting, check its not set to max, that would see it running a longer time but it should still get there. The burner may not be set up correctly and is just underrated for the boiler, or the boiler is just in dire need of a service.

Hi it was serviced about 4 months ago . Can smell the oil also when its on.Have someone coming to check it tomorrow . It does,nt cut at all just stays on

Sounds like possibly not set up correctly, the smell could be soot, soot will act like an insulator and prevent heat transfer to water, it will also be a much cooler flame, and IF its soot it will have a very high CARBON MONOXIDE level and is very dangerous.

Turn off until service man calls.

Make sure to get a printout of the combustion results. He should do that. Personally I would not walk away from doing work on it without checking. Buck stops with last man at it.

If I t was just a matter if changing a wire inside, then I wouldn't, but after getting notified of the smell, further investigation would be required.

Take a few notes from this thread and ask him NICELY if he thinks there might be any merit in what you read here.
