    €250 I see.

At least you're buying a product that has a good chance of being stored properly through an AI station.
Who knows what ya get otherwise.
If you want it for a flush why skimp at this stage?

If AI companies are selling them for that much why would somebody sell for less.
As already said, at least you have straws that were handled right

+1. If you want the end product why skimp? €250 isn't a joke if the output matches the input. The reward will be there.

Does anyone ever buy these straws from new bulls as an investment or gamble? How long will they stay good in a flask for ? If they don't sell well after a couple of years couldn't you use them your self anyhow ?

I was thinking more about new bulls rather than what you have there now .

Got ya, yes some people do, if there sharp enough and can store the straws . and sure if you think the bull is good enough as an investment and his price does not rise you can use him yourself , just depends on the amount you buy of him and you own usage....

What's the position with private sales? Is it not supposed to be under licence?

And how much do ya want for them?

    Ya, Dolcorsllwyn Fabio.
How is he working out for breeding. Only 17 progeny registered to him on the Irish Limousin herd book.

Be careful with yer flasks and telling lads what's in them. Was due to buy 15 alfy straws off a lad but when he went to get them they had been robbed. Neighbor here had his flask robbed out of shed, fully stocked for breeding season

Lot's of interest in Sympa for sure. Thing is at a time when Teagasc etc, pushing suckler farmers to thing maternal traits first and foremost to drive profitability in suckling, I notice that Sympa daughters have very poor milk figures at -6.64kg:(

A lot of the milk has been bred out of limousins over the last while, breeding for the show ring rather than for commercial traits has done that. We never went in for the show lark and mostly concentrated on breeding for commercial traits, milk, weight for age etc... Never had much luck when it came to selling though

There's a lot of bull**** with pedigree breeding. I was at a sale a while back and got talking to an older guy that had kept a few purebreds. He was commenting on how there could be up to 100Kgs weight for age difference between some of the animals. A couple of the herds were high profile, yet the higher weight animals were all selling for higher money, even though the lighter animals from a herd with a lot of bulls in Irish AI and were all selling poorly.
People were buying with their eyes and not really looking at the breeding.

    By the way, fine looking bull here by Ampertaine Commander;

A mate of mine was saying you have to ask the limousin society if you can flush a limousin before you even think of doing it . Is this true and why would you have to ask .
