The replacement of the water meter should have no impact on your central heating system whatsoever.
If by opening the mains water pipe outside on the footpath drains the water pressure from the central heating system, then you have a problem which needs immediate attention.
At best you have a bad leak which has been kept topped up by the mains water pressure.
Worse case scenario is that the water in your system is able to flow back into the mains water through a faulty non return valve or similar, which in turn can contaminate the drinking water supply.
If you are loosing pressure on the boiler as a result of the work on the meter installation, you need to get things checked as soon as possible.

You have just contaminated the mains water supply because of dodgy plumbing in your house

You need to go out and tell them

So you have to manually top up the pressurized system - so it shouldn't really be affected by your mains being down? Unless the fill valve was left open by mistake ? Might be worth checking your heating system ..

As has already been said, if installing a meter caused any effect on your heating system, you have something wrong

We will say it again, your heating system should NEVER be affected by your mains water supply, ever.
You have a fault which you need to get fixed. Be it the top up valve leaking etc. you still need to fix it before you end up poisoning someone.

The topup valve is not supposed to be permantly connected to your mains supply in any way, it should only ever be connected with a pipe such as above so it can be disconnected when not needed for topping up.

Your physics is wrong, its a valve, if vacuum can pull pressure down from the other side, then it's leaking and needs to be fixed

There should be a non-return valve and a stop valve AND it should not be permanently connected to the mains. Therefore as said already, if it affected your heating system in any way there is some or most of the above missing or broken.

you just need to disconnect the filling loop pipe when you are finished topping up the system

then it won't matter what the mains water does, it can't affect your heating system

confirmation bias n stuff - seem to be looking for answers that suit

if you disconnect the loop like yer supposed to , it can't happen again

Well if you want us to message your ego by telling you everything is ok....then why didn't you say so.

You did ask if you needed to do anything. What were you expecting to be told?

You have gotten a load of good advice from us for free and now you thank us by saying "not a great vibe".
