The rabble-rousing headline I'd lead with after reading that article is this:

    PANTI COMPARES ENDA TO HITLER!

Ireland’s Taoiseach has visited a popular Dublin gay bar.
Head of government Enda Kenny – of the Fine Gael party – took time out from running the country on Tuesday to visit Pantibar – run by drag queen activist Panti Bliss.

    Finish my joke :D

Hopefully this is good for the gay marriage vote next year
So this is Kenny's latest attempt to stop the continual fall in Fianna Gael's vote as seen in the polls. Oh I suppose it's better than him always moaning about Sinn Fein with "What about Jerry Cahill.........what about Maria McCabe " :)

I was there kjust having a drink with friends last night. It wasn’t nearly the event you’d think it was from the OTT reaction. I had no idea he was there till someone pointed it out, he was with a big group of younger LGBT party members. There was no posturing, or seeking photos ops that I could see (though he did get served before me in at the bar when I was there first! :-) ) and it I think it’s a great indication of a progressive country when the PM can drop into a GAY bar for a pint. Certainly I don’t recall a UK PM (I’m British) ever doing so and the UK is more progressive legally than Ireland in terms of equal rights.

Hope it doesn't affect their sales too much.

Kenny actually drinks in the Gingerman on Fenian Street down from the Dail. Good pub even though Kenny and too many Fine Gaelers drink in it.

Next Weeks edition of 'Enda's a great guy' will see Enda sleep in an actual sleeping bag in an actual doorway .

The last time something like that happened when Ursula Halligan was chasing him, he fell over a flower pot.

Sorry about the triple posting above.
Triple posting hints at an underlying rage that Enda cut ahead of you at the bar. I'd be outraged too.

Unfortunately I think it's less to do with supporting the LGBT community and the upcoming referendum, and more about electioneering on his/FG's part.

Enda shows up in a gay bar = Enda's a great progressive guy .. I'll vote for him! = Mission accomplished.

Expect more such "random" appearances and good news stories surrounding Enda and Joan as they prepare for the predicted early election next year.

Wonder if he had a go at the gloryhole in the jacks?

*Shrug* It's what all politicians do, though. Certainly doesn't mean I am more or less likley to vote for him or the party.

If he'd turned up and not had a photo or two, or even turned down the invite, he'd probably have been hauled over the coals too. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. It's not a job I'd do for love nor money.

If he did you would probably need to check your pockets after.

Fine Gael's LGBT group were having a Christmas party in a LGBT bar and a member of their party came with them.

If it was more about getting exposure they would have at least rang ahead and made sure Panti was actually there to get the actual photo ops.

A Taoiseach walks into a gay bar and had a pint of Guinness.
