    hi All,

Just wondering does anyone know of a choir/singing group that is just for fun? I googled choirs in cork and they sounded very serious - auditions and reading sheet music. There doesn't have to be any performances just getting together to sing. Any ideas?

    ta,

why not try sacred harp singing? Very unique and communal. It's great fun as well

I'm non-religious so perhaps it's not for me - The music is set to Christian texts and had developed as a form of worship.

    Thank you though.

Traditionally it is religious, but this group started out originally with UCC music students. Outside of the hymns, there is no religious aspect to the group at all nor do they use the hymns to worship. :)

    good luck with the search!

Hmm, you've narrowed that down considerably. I was about to post that there is a brill gospel choir in turners cross I think... They do pop covers as well. But probably wouldn't suit ya if you don't go in for anything churchy.

Tbh, I can't think of a single choir that avoids everything religion related. Even the super-informal ones do Christmas carols usually.

The whole congregation sings in our local church of Ireland as well... Twould be hymns again though.

You might have to found one!

I'm in this choir and we're great craic. We do occasionally perform but mainly it's just for fun. I only joined in September and I love it :)
