Gas Fireplace Advice (Improving Heat Output)

    hi,

I'm wondering if anyone on here can give me some advice regarding our gas fireplace (it's a Gazco HE type, exact one here http://www.stovax.com/stove-fire/inset-gas-fires/dimension/)

We really like the fire, it's only 2 years old works great and don't really want to change it if we can avoid it. The room it's in is about 25ft x 11ft, and it seems to struggle to heat the entire room, even when turned up full. It outputs fantastic heat, but only to a few feet from the fire, after that the level of warmth drops off considerably. the problem is getting the heat to fill the room.

is there any accessories or extras that can be got (special coals, etc) that will help the fire fill the room with heat?

No it's just the nature of them. Probably cheaper just to turn on the heating

Do what I did. Rip it out and put in a stove. :D

did you go for an inset type or one that stands away from the fireplace?

    Great little stove.

We moved house a few years ago and the new house had a gas fire. Didn't like it at all. Cost a fortune to run and feck-all heat from it. We were used to an open fire in the old house. Bit the bullet and got the stove along with a proper flue liner. Overall cost was around 1.6K I think but money well spent. We have the french doors into the kitchen if it gets too hot. Only burn seasoned firewood and briquettes in it.
