5ft Cara bed in Harvey Norman reduced from €749 to €599.20

These are very sought after and have ran out of stock a few times recently. Ordered one today.

Sorry folks, not such a bargain alert after all. This bed "Cara" is also called "Epilson" and "Rochester" in different shops. Identical same bed, just a different name on the cardboard box. Back in Harvey Norman for €749 but can be got in other shops for €300 less. Trying to return mine to Harvey Norman. I feel cheated.

    bigmickey.ie €449

    homelinefurniture.ie €488.63

    harveynorman.ie €749

All these 3 beds are exactly the same. Have a look for yourself.

I can't post the links as I don't have enough posts to date.

    @ clevtrev

Thanks for the links. I am unable to post them myself for whatever reason.

TBH it was a staff member out of Harvey Norman that is friends of my sister that wised me up to what happened here. Seemingly these big shops are able to exert influence over the manufacturer/importer of many items to prevent the smaller shops from getting them and then they just inflate the price for a big rip off for themselves. I am now aware of many other items that the same has happened with. Black Friday my ar*e.

I see Harvey is also charging for delivery whereas the other two only charge if you want a bed removed at the same time. Sorry for your trouble you should complain loudly

Nothing ever worth getting in Harvey Norman. If they put their useless Ads budget (which must be pretty big) into a reduction in prices they might get somewhere.

I still wouldnt go their because of their price gouging over the years though.

If they left during the recession it would have been no bad thing.

    ****.

    @ clevtrev

I am more pi**ed off for posting the bargain alert in case others on here went for the so called "Black Friday deal". At the end of the day if I have to live with the increased price then so be it but I would hate to mislead others. I have contacted my credit card company to see what their take is on it. I'd say Harvey Norman will take down their advert now that they have been rumbled or maybe not ...

I see that you have 14 days from date of receipt of the goods to return them but I assume that only applies for online purchases?

Went in to Harvey Norman today. The sales guy insists that is a different bed. When I asked him to look at the picture used for the black leather one (which is what I bought) on their site and also on every other site that stocks them as it is the same picture with the same foreground and background, he refused and walked away and disappeared. Not going to get much of a hearing from them it looks like. I have ofter bought things in HN over the years but never again.

Thanks for the input! I seen 5 extra replies on this bed and thought I was getting an even better deal!

Harvey Norman have now dropped the price of the bed to €589. Still a rip off compared to other shops.
