Replacement Glass for 02 Almera

Some lovely person drove into my wing mirror and broke the glass, the electrics seem fine but the glass itself is cracked and at a slightly odd angle (see image below).

Is there an easy way to just replace the glass itself?

Thanks, I managed to get it off, do you know where I could source a replacement? Have looked around and all I could find was the adhesive stuff you put over the original glass, but I need the whole glass panel replaced as the clips were damaged.

Check places like micks garage, amazon, ebay, adverts, donedeal (cars breaking) etc
You can also try local motor factors or Halfords and see if they can order it for you.
Or even call in to local breakers (see the sticky) and get one for next to nothing.

Thanks, I've decided just to replace the whole wing mirror assembly itself, hopefully should be pretty straight forward to replace.

Sorry for the stupid questions but I've zero experience at this, hoping to learn as I go along (maybe a bad move! :-P)

I picked up a complete electric mirror in my local scrapyard for €25....same colour too which was the main thing. It would cost more to respray it to match than the mirror itself cost me.
Easy job to do. Just take off the inner trim and then 2 or 3 small bolts holding on the mirror.

edit. I see you're in Limerick. Take a drive out to AutoBreak (turn left at The Weigh-In, The old Spellacy's, and on the right about 3/4 mile up the road.
They had about 7 or 8 Almeras there when i called.

Thanks, the paint job has gone to ****e on the car in general so I'm not really bothered with it not matching, ordered online already so at least I know it will be delivered to my work place over the next couple of days. Thanks for the advised on the breakers yard, might pop out there if I have another issue or if the lack of matching paint does end up bothering me :-D

No problem. You're car looks like it's Silver from the photo. If you ordered from micksgarage it will come with primer.
Just get the cheapest silver aerosol that halfords have (or even have a look in Dealz...they do a range of aerosol paints now and again).
As the painted part of the Mirror is not directly up against any other painted part of the car even a bad match won't be very noticable.
The black triangular piece of plastic on the inside of the door will just prise off and you will then see the bolts holding the mirror on.
BTW if you wanted to you could take your old mirror cover off and replace the primed one on the new one (to get the colour you need)....best to practice taking the old one off first though as you don't want to damage the new one if clips start breaking, etc.

Thanks again, I'm going to look at the color code for the car later (still at work atm) and see if I can get the paint locally or online, the color is more of a very pale green then silver. I don't mind if it doesn't match 100% but like the idea of doing it myself :-D

I'll keep you updated, thanks again for the advise.

I'd have a go at swapping over the cover first. Cost you nothing and and you know the colour is a match.
