    Hi,

Can the carers credit generate a refund from revenue or is it just taken back to NIL?

i.e (say, worked example for illustrative purposes)

    Income: €4000

    Taxed at 20% (€800)
    _____________________
    Tax Due 800

less PAYE Credit (capped at €800 of the €1650) €800
    less Carers Credit €810
less Married Credit given to spouse NIL
    _____________________
    Refund Due: €810

or are both PAYE & Carers Credit non-refundable so should be NIL??

    Thanks in advance.

Mods: Please delete thread. i've got the answer.

For anyone interested. Obviously it would be a joint assessment so the carers credit would be refundable. So while the PAYE credit will reduce the lower income to nil, the other spouse would get the benefit of the carers credit.
