Hi, I have a 2007 Audi A3 Sportback 1.6 petrol and am looking for advice for comfort tyres. I currently have Continental tyres on the front and they need to be replaced. The Continental tyres are OK but not very comfortable as I can feel every little bump on the roads.

What is the best tyre for comfort. Size: 205/55/R16

    Please help.

    Thanks

What pressure do you inflate them too ?

On a R16 tyre you shouldn't be feeling too uncomfortable, what mileage is on the car ? perhaps get someone to look at the shocks and suspension for wear and tear.

Is it an S Line or SE?

Tyre type would not have a huge impact on comfort, there will be subtle differences but not drastic differences in comfort.

Maybe try deflating the tyres by a few psi, that would make a bigger difference than tyre brand would.

The problem is not going to solved by a different tyre brand, and 16"s should not be uncomfortable. It is more down to suspension set up and tyre pressures. Has you car always been uncomfortable, have you owned it long?

Hi, the tyre pressure has been set to 30 psi. I also had the front shocks replaced last year (Audi, Eniscorthy) but made no difference, so was hoping putting softer tyres on will help.

What's the recommended pressure on the sticker inside the door jam ?

The pressure listed for the front tyres is 32 and 30 for the back. So i have reduced the front by 2 psi which helped a bit.

I started to notice the drive getting worse about 2.5 years ago and so replaced the tyres to Continental (recommended).

I also brought the car to a Audi dealer and they replaced the front shocks but as mentioned, this did nothing for the comfort.

There is 155k miles on the car

All seasons will make a significant difference to the softness of your car's ride because of the type of rubber they're made from.

I recommend Hancooks from somewhere like Eiretyres/ Camskill etc

If you want to have more flex in the sidewall then you need to increase the aspect ratio.
There will be a corresponding decrease in tyre width to make the rolling diameter the same.
If you went to 195-60-16 the sidewall would be deeper and the ride would be more comfortable.
These aren't that expensive Goodyear Vector 4 seasons are 117 in that size from Oponeo.
Higher profile tyres are more comfortable at the expense of sporty handling.
    Your choice.
BTW I run 195/65 R15 as they are very comfortable on bad roads also Continental but TS850 Wintercontact. Very comfortable and quiet tyres IME.
