Any advice would be gratefully received.
I am not a techy person but I have spawned a nerd it seems.

10 year old is probably on his last year of Santy. Loves his Minecraft and Roblox.
The letter to the redsuited one says that the "laptop is the one thing I really (X3) want".

So, if I can afford to do it, I'll get it for him. He's already hogging my (old) hp pavilion and wants to download Minecraft PC to it. He has also started doing homework/school projects via email, so it's going to be useful in several ways.

His friend in school has started building his own PCs and advised my young fella that he needs
    - an Acer aspire V5-122P AMD Quad Core A61450m 4GB 500GB 11.6" Windows 8.1 64 bit
so that he can play his games with "no lagging".

Googling those specs led me to this laptops direct for €357.41
(can't post links as dont have enough posts)

Son has mentioned dabs.ie as another site that do "re-furbished laptops".

I saw another poster being pointed toward Dell Inspiron 17 5000-Series for €599.

I reckon I need to budget up to €450.

What are your thoughts on where to buy?

Should I steer away from refurbished (I won't have the know how to do "simple" fixes)?

Are lapt*psdirect safe to buy from? Fairly priced?

Or should I allow a bit more on budget and buy something like Dell which should do him for transfer to secondary school and onwards?

    Thanks for any advice.
