Ford Mondeo Timing Belt

Was just on to a garage to book in my 09 1.8TDCI mondeo for a service. It has 140,000km on the clock. They are saying the timing belt should be done.

What are the intervals for timing belt on these does anyone know?

That engine is now fitted with a wet belt which are prone to failure so maybe be as well to change it if you dont know the full history.

Have a search for mondeo timing belt failure you will find plenty of interesting reading.

The official interval is 200,000km but they are very prone to premature failure. We usually recommend around 150,000km on them. It's an expensive job as well, from €650 upwards depending on where you go.
