Upon purchase i noted that the flex cable ribbon was a different colour (old ribbon was gold and new one black) but after checking google I assumed (prob wrongly) that all was ok and went ahead and replaced it. All went ok until i switched it on and now the touchscreen doesnt work. Is the different coloured ribbon the issue?

The website that i bought it from never mentioned the diff ribbon colour. As far as i was concerned it was advertised as a replacement for my version of tablet.

Have I any comeback here?
