Goes some way to explaining ISIS lack of opposition.

This kind of thing was why Bilko was really funny. Because the scripts were often based on fact :)

Yeah, it's very easy to jump to conclusions based on news headlines or articles. But they really do ignore the massive amounts of background information and the conditions surrounding these events.

Tis why i'm always skeptical about any news articles, especially those from sources with known agenda's. For example, The majority of news articles about Eastern Ukraine have been complete ****e. The only real source i'd trust is Simon Ostrovsky, and that's because he doesn't speculate like the main headlines do, he just shows you tiny bites of life in modern eastern ukraine.

Non existent troops are nothing new. I think it even happened in the British army historically. So that's no surprise. I'm sure it's common in many countries.

As for the Iraqi army well with exceptions Arabs by and large are poor soldiers. There are various reasons for it. Some listed in the link.

IS are no better. They're good at killing prisoners but if they ran into proper opposition they'd be rolled up in weeks. Their fanaticism is no match for a well trained army.
