Spend only what you can afford. It's not worth putting yourself in hock just for ring. If the finances improve over time, and you'd like to replace the engagement ring, then by all means you could. Anyway - it's the size of the love not the size of the ring!

I've no knowledge of diamondsfactory.ie, so can't comment about that. Why don't you go to a few jewellers, discuss your budget and see what they come up with?

    Good luck!

Try Thomas Gear or Martin Gear, they definitely have rings in that range.

Did you think about getting a gemstone ring instead of a diamond? Something like a white sapphire or topaz or aquamarine?

I have a beautiful white gold and topaz ring that was about 200 and it was got from Keanes jewellers. It has small diamonds down the side of if the bands.

I was Christmas shopping the other day and saw Swarovski rings which actually made me think of boards, since people are always asking this question!! They are actually gorgeous, I think I would rather one of them than a tiny diamond, just for the sake of getting a diamond if you know what I mean. For example.. http://www.swarovski.com/Web_IE/en/5032920/product/Attract_Round_Ring.html
