Business opportunity came up with bova. Just asking your opinion on them? They have a fantastic catalog but don't seem to be as popular as their counterparts.

So what's your opinion? Do you do business with them? If not whi not? What bulls have you used with them?

Dairy lads, what do you think of the dairy catalog?

Beef lads what do you think of their catalog?

I've bought straws over the years from Bova. Eoin is no fool in selecting a good bull. I'd rate him highly.
I don't know what they're like on the ground. Do they have a strong base of technicians
    on the road?

It's sumthing that may be getting stronger soon. Big push to become a Leader in their field with plenty of support on the ground.

Good beef catalogue. Dairy side is poor and that's where the money is in that game

Used them had problems with repeats so changed tech.
Used SFL & BYQ & highly impressed.
Bull selection looks good on beef side

Used alot of their beef breeds last year on dairy. Honestly couldnt have been happier.Great calves from their He bull.(very dissapointed with polled wh calves from munster and dovea).Sfl a dream to use too.Little bit dearer than others but that could just be the tech. Will be using them alot more next year

we have bought straws from them in the last couple of years and find them very good to deal with in every way, they are able to pick good bulls in france and have good stock, not like some of the other companies who only buy from breeders who are important and not the quality of the bull.

Find them very easy to deal with in relation to beef side of things. They provide excellent value with some of their special offer's on certain bulls, some of the other A.I. companies could take a leaf out of their book.

It's a family business so they 'live or die' on the quality of bulls they offer, would imagine that they're not in a position to simply 'write off' an animal if purchased/ offered for the wrong breeding objectives...........

Nice & knowledgable guys, I am sure.

    On Dairy:
They have a few EBI bulls but have maybe one in the top 20. Not at the races, dairy is where the money is.

    On beef:
They have a resonable selection of bulls, but like how many get used?

    On the market:

They are a long way behind NCBC -PG & Munster, Dovea & Eurogene have about 85-90% of the market.

Leaving Bova, ABS, Sligo AI, odds & ends and pedigree stuff - 10-15%.

Got the latest Bova catalogue in the door this week. Have a few questions, any views appreciated.
Towthorpe Dubai (Thz) has been around for a while now, just wondering has anyone cows off him and is he any good for milk?
Anyone used Hadrian (HZH) Lm, Alwent Hitman P CH or Lanigan Red Deep Canyon (ZLL)?

The Simmental bull Lisnacran Sunnyboy has serious figures on paper, does he live up to them?

We have been dealing with them for years. Used Sfl Wacko Barco Brendan Jackson Caralion And Hesitante of the Blue bulls. Carlo the Parthenaise and Dubai the Limousin. Great crowd to deal with. Serious discounts with large orders including free straws. Very happy with the bulls. Wacko and Barco are real good blues without calving difficulties. Brendan is probably the best producer of quality but little harder calved. Jackson and Hesitante have produced some very good stock with no real calving issues. Sfl is very easy calved and found him to produce just average stock in comparison to the above mentioned lads. Carilion would be my least favorite of them all. Carlo is one lad that has done a great job here. His 1st daughters are now second calvers and very happy with how they doing breeding some serious bulls too. Have one lad in the finishing shed at the moment Weighed 640kgs and won't be 1 year til 3rd march. Will be killed before hes 13mts. !st of the Dubai heifers will calve in the next couple of weeks. Hope they have milk cos i kept a few of them. Dubai Bulls i found on the whole lacked a bit of width but the heifers were beauties loads of style and well balanced.

Would you mind me asking who did you serve the Dubai heifers to as I have a batch here and am toying with the idea of keeping them ( all off 1st calver's)
Personally am very happy with bulls and heifers off him. In fairness he has some serious breeding behind him, as his mother is a full sister to Ronick Hawk, so that line alone should be a great help with milking ability.

5 Ronick Hawk straws for €450. He's in the top 1% of the breed for milk and 5 stars for everything else too. You can't beat using a proven bull.
One of my PB cows here has him in her breeding. She' not the milkiest though.
