Have I gone insane or am I just after watching that sycophantic old fool (who likes to masquerade as an independent thinker/maverick) George Hook gush about Jeffrey Archer being some sort of legend of literature at this award show.

I dunno any more. If enough people believe it it becomes "true" i suppose.
Irish people love myth more than anything else it would seem.
Usually if it means the non-irish person loves them back.
    Clowns.

To be honest I was more shocked that George Hook actually spent more than a minute speaking about someone other than George Hook.

I think George Hook is the best thing on radio. None of the predictable right-on stuff and he's completely blown away the last word on today FM

I do like the man but he does have an annoying habit of relating almost every item he covers to himself or some experience he had in Cork a long time ago.

Problem with people like Hook is that he believes his opinion is important.
It is about subjects he knows about but the danger arises when he feels confident to voice an opinion on anything.
Bord Gais is about popular culture
, not necessarily great literature and that is Archer's territory too, and he does it well but he won't be winning the Booker
