    Hi chaps ...

    Probably not the best time of year but I want to sort my auld fella out with a basic Sky package. He already has a dish and box, but as he has just retired, would love Attheraces. I'd like to pay for the basic channels for him.

    First problem is I live in London, so I can't get through to the Cork call centre.

    Second is I have no idea what I should be aiming for in negotiations ... happy to leave it until Jan if I'd get a better deal.

    Any ideas on how to get through to the Cork call centre and also what price I should be looking at? He doesn't want any other sports etc just attheraces....

    the basic sky with at the races is 28 euro per month for 12 months with a 30 euro set up and you get a free sky plus box and cabling and dish. But if box already there then it has to be mre than 12 months old. If you want to use same box you will need , make ie manufacturer, modeel number, version number, serial number, you get that by pressing services, system set up, system details, if you ring sky uk, and say you want irish pacakage they will either transfer you or process it. all they are interetsed in is the actual address and as its irish should be no problem. look here for more

    they dont discount the basic package. if you order online they call you back, it should not matter if its a uk mobile, say you are on holiday, payment says DD but I am sure you can use cc as well. Ask for 12 months up front ie a one off and you may get a discount. have you tried the irish number from uk?
