    Hi everyone.
Just bought a Volvo S40 2006 from the auction, and it seems to have a big problem, when I started the car it has a "reduced engine performance" message, and while driving it looks like has no power at all, couldn't go faster than 80km/h. Here is what happens: (youtube.com/watch?v=uhWWDVj1lCk&feature=youtu.be) . Can anybody tell what is the problem??? and if you had it before??
    thanks.

alexandru, I've removed your other post. One will suffice.

Take car to a local Volvo mechanic. It's possibly the Electronic Throttle Module.

It means the car is in limp home mode to protect if from further harm as the car's ECU has detected a fault. This could any number of faults so you will need to get the car scanned by a garage with diagnostic equipment to give the fault code which may indicate where the fault lies.

    thanks.

The inlet manifold swirl flap control solenoid is a common issue with the 1.8 engine. It is easy to replace and price wise isn't too bad.
Usually it triggers the check engine light and the limp mode as well.

See this post for part number and photo of the actual part:

The only widely known problem with that engine that I'm aware of is the slave cylinder issue. Otherwise the engine is grand. I had a seven year old model with over 100,000km on the clock and had no other problems.
