The Garage Harold Cross

Was in 'The Garage Harolds Cross' pricing cars today that I saw on donedeal.

All nice cars that are imported from UK. Not many customers knocking about, no SIMI signs, no huge mechanical work going on. Seems to be just to source in UK and sell here.

Seems to be operated by English man that is a bit of a 'geezer' but in saying that the prices are good and nice speced cars! The cars seem to be cheaper but not so much that its to good to be true.

Has anyone purchased here and any feedback?

    Thanks in advance!

According to this they are only in business 20 days:

They were probably trading under a different name upto that point, which is not uncommon these days especially with small time dealers. This is probably why nobody has much to say about them. Either way it would not inspire me with confidence, try and find out who they were trading as prior to that or if they are a brand new business with no connection to a previous business.

Odd setup. I don't think there was a garage there ever before. It looks to be a converted garage. There is a similar business further down the road so maybe they are the same.

Just wondering did anyone have any experiences of dealing with this garage since the last post here. Some nice cars on there, mostly 2011's, and prices seem fairly reasonable from what I can tell.

Cheers, hoping to upgrade in the next few weeks so will keep an eye on the site. They seem very reasonably priced, especially compared to what they're looking for for similar cars down my neck of the woods (Midwest).

Hi, Anyone more recent feedback? Due to go and look at car later in the week with them. Seem to be importing in but reassure they can provide service history of work and run cartell reports, and do some sort of AA report. Prices and car specs seem genuine and the english guy Darren I spoke to seemed nice. Just wondering is it all abit to good to be true. The warranty is only 3mths which seems a tad short for a 17k car, just wondering is it too good to be true.

It's been asked enough times - there is no feedback on this operation. Take your chances.

Just treat it as a private sale as some sellers rarely honor any warranty given on sale of the car.

There is a useful guide in the sticky of this forum and buying a used car.

Do the usual checks like cartell or motorcheck. Put the reg into the nct site to see when it's due and if it matches whats on the windscreen.

Go onto the motortax website (google it) and see if it changed owners recently. You can query this with the seller.

Get a safety inspection done with the AA or a trusted mechanic.

There is a lot of ground work you can do yourself if you follow these guidelines. There will always be mixed reviews from peoples experiences with garages. So take the initiative and do your own checks.

    Hi All,

I bought a car here at the beginning of the year. nice clean car, looked good, drove well and at a fairly decent price. I was told there had been no accidents with the car and provided with a full service history and accident report that was squeaky clean. All good until recently I decided I wanted a new car. Went to a Ford dealer and they asked could they take a look at the car with regards to a trade in. Instantly they noticed something strange about the alignment of the car, put it on the ramp and told me they would not be taking it as a trade in as they were pretty sure it was at one point a write off or if not, not far off it. They ran a history check and not a thing on it. I was told by the Ford garage that the car was hit badly, fixed badly and on the cheap and sold to myself and should never have been sold in such a condition. You take chances with dealers like these, sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't.

I left a deposit to import a car for me, i was told to come and collect it after one month of lots of calls and visits. When i was there and told them i want to bring it to a mechanic they didn't even show it to me, had no nct and vrt and was told to come after one week so i asked for deposit back. They were refusing to give me the car or deposit and i had to open a court case. Is been 4 months since I paid and no sign from them. If you look on their facebook page there is another person with the same issue who left a review but they didn't remove it. I went in that area recently and i didn't see any activity there. Probably they closed down. Stay away from this garage.

That't what they were doing basically. They were inporting uk cars. I gave them the specs and they were meant to find it for me. Once they find it and I'm happy with it I should've pay the rest.
