The telescopic rails on our three year old SMEG SCP399X-8 get stuck frequently and rarely slide smoothly. I tried spraying GT85 lubricant on them but it had no effect except to make roast dinners pong a bit!

I removed the rails to examine them and they are comprised of five in-line ball bearings above and below the telescopic arm. Everything looks very dry with no sign of lubricant.

Any ideas on how to fix?
