    Hi all,

apologies if this is not the correct place to post this thread.

I was wondering if anybody knows whether an employee who has decided to take on some unpaid maternity leave from her current full time job, can be working occasionally during those unpaid weeks like extra in movies, ads or a babysitter from time to time just to earn a few bobs.

What do you guys think? would that be legal?

    Thank you in advance

If you're claiming maternity benefit from the state, then no.

If you're on your extended unpaid maternity leave, then technically yes, but probably only as a self-employed contractor and not as a PAYE employee, and not in a capacity that would be undermining or competing with your current employer.
