Low hot water pressure in shower during winter

The problem:- come winter time the hot water pressure in the shower drops considerable. So much in fact, that I have to start the water flowing by turning the shower control to cold before slowly turning to hot ( shower temperature )

Setup:- Fairly standard, I think. Tank in attic, large hot water cylinder ( first floor ), shower pump at base of cylinder ( hot from cylinder, cold from attic tank ) and the shower itself on the first floor. Vent pipe from cylinder to attic tank. Central heating can heat water through coil in cylinder. Water travels from cylinder, up through the attic, and down to the shower.

What I don't have:- a shut off on the feed to the cylinder from the central heating. However I have a condensing boiler with temperature set approx 70 degrees

So, any ideas / suggestions why the hot water pressure seems to drop off come winter time. Not wanting to pre guess an answer but is it something to do with extra pressure caused by the hotter (!) water creating air locks when the water is heated by the central heating ??

    Thanks in advance.
